When this happens, the redirected water pushes up the blue maintenance monitor on the top of the filter, letting the aquarium keeper know that the filter media needs to be cleaned out. When this happens in the Tidal Filter, water is redirected around the filter and back into the aquarium through an outlet to the side. Over time, filtration media can become clogged with detritus and prevent water from flowing through. The pump is also insulated and silent, making it excellent for office or dining room aquariums, and has extremely low power consumption for the amount of output – the large Tidal 110 filter uses only 12 watts. A bottom-to-top flow ensures that water comes into contact will all filter media, and cannot go around or over filter media as with hang on back filters with a back-to-front flow. The pump pushes water up into the basket of the filter, entering through the bottom of the basket and being pushed out the top. Ventilation slots in the lid of the filter and aeration grooves in the outflow ensure that water returned to the tank is fully oxygenated and maximize gas exchange during filtration.

7/24/2023 0 Comments Heated extractor![]() Both the gas itself (specifically methane) and carbon dioxide, which is released when natural gas is burned, are greenhouse gases. The extraction and consumption of natural gas is a major and growing contributor to climate change. It is also used as a chemical feedstock in the manufacture of plastics and other commercially important organic chemicals and less commonly used as a fuel for vehicles. Natural gas can be burned for heating, cooking, and electricity generation. The energy that the decayed organisms originally obtained from the sun via photosynthesis is stored as chemical energy within the molecules of methane and other hydrocarbons. Natural gas is a fossil fuel and non-renewable resource that is formed when layers of organic matter (primarily marine microorganisms) decompose under anaerobic conditions and are subjected to intense heat and pressure underground over millions of years. Methane is colorless and odorless, so odorizers such as mercaptan (which smells like sulfur or rotten eggs) are commonly added to natural gas supplies for safety so that leaks can be readily detected. Low levels of trace gases like carbon dioxide, nitrogen, hydrogen sulfide, and helium are also usually present. Natural gas (also called fossil gas or simply gas) is a naturally occurring mixture of gaseous hydrocarbons consisting primarily of methane in addition to various smaller amounts of other higher alkanes. Then we had each try the local speciality of Mate drunk from a communal vessle with a special straw. We had coffee, cake and delicious home made ice cream. Robinson was a stray that had been found on an uninhabited island and he was most excited. Then on we sailed with a brief land stop and about a further 1 1/2 hours back to a raptuous greeting by the dogs when we returned. The trimings were magnificent and included empanadas (meat pies) and this was washed down with plenty of beer or wine. Ralph again excelled in cooking delicious chicken and sirloin steak on a gas barbeque on the boat. After about an hour and a half's sailing, we moored where we could throw bread to the fish and had a most scrumtious lunch- all served on the boat. We sailed through a maze of channels- some wide with houses, some very narrow and we eventually crossed the main river and shipping lane where lots of large vessels were taking mainly grain. It was quite a cold day and some of us were unprepared, but Ana lent us fleeces and blankets so we were warm. He had certainly lost none of his skills, and we enjoyed a welcome breakfast of home made bread (baked in a clay oven), and two types of honey plus other preserves-absolutely divine - we could not stop eating. We soon learned that Ralph was an ex cargo ship cook. Also the extent of flooding and the need for the dwelling to be raised. We saw how water is purified, but drinking water must be brought in. It depends on the state of the river- which is tidal despite its distance from the sea. Island living is very different to normal. After about 3/4 hour, we were dropped at the island home of Ralph and Ana and we had a serious doggy welcome and warm greetings from the owners. This in itself was an experience as it involved many stops where goods or people were dropped and the excitement that the dogs showed at seeing their owners again was fascinating. A quick cup of coffee at the handy MacDonald's refreshed us and we caught the 9am bus boat. ![]() It took about an hour to Tigre and it was light when we arrived. It was a great experience to be travelling with the ordinary folk of Beunos Aires as they went to work. The return fare at 4 Peso's was almost too cheap. ![]() A taxi quickly took seven of us to Retiro station and, thanks to Ana's instructions, booking a ticket to Tigre was easy. We had a late night previously and it was a struggle to be ready in the hotel lobby by 6.45am. I definitely recommend “Delta Unplugged” everything about it was magical! When we docked at the house Ana produced amazing ginger ice cream before bringing us back to Tiger for our taxi home. My husband who hates fish could no get enough of Ralph’s catfish! After several glass of delicious wine I had a little snooze on the way back. Halfway along we pulled in under a weeping willow where Ralph proceeded to cook us an amazing lunch. Ana took fab photos which she later sent us. Both of them are so knowledgeable and bubbly about life on the river & had eyes that spotted all the lovely wild life. Off we went on their boat, lazily cruising & totally relaxing. Ralph served his homemade bread & honey with verbena tea delicious! Meanwhile Ana told us all about life on the the Delta & showed us on the map the route we went about to embark upon. We were picked up by Taxi & taken to the water taxi in Tiger which brought us to their home on the Delta. Our hosts Ana & Ralph made sure it was a memorable event. I, my husband & friend just spent a wonderful day on the Delta. Anna and ralph, tx a lot for this unforgettable day, we already miss you! (But we will keep contact via whatsapp □) I only can recommend to book this tour, you wont regret it! Last tip, book this trip during a weekday as in the weekend its crowded in tigre by local people who go there to enjoy the weekend in their holiday home. Also the wine we received during lunch was excellent. Ralph is and excellent chef and the food was so delicious. Around 5.30pm we were back at their house, enjoyed some more surprises, had a lot of great conversations and went back to the big city. Just take a cabify (40min) to tigre and this awesome adventure can start. It is such a peaceful environment and MUST do when you are staying at buenos aires. After lunch we went back to their house (another 1,5hour). ![]() After approx 2 hours we stopped for lunch in a magical place on the river and had a very tasty lunch (on the boat). Afterwards we left with the beautiful boat. We enjoyed the presence of the cats/dogs and a lot of kolibris who we could feed in their beautiful garden. After a short boat ride (15min) we arrived at their peaceful home. We were picked up at the pier at tigre at 10.30am. Anna and ralph are very kind and genuine people. Wooow, what a great once in a lifetime authentic experience we had. 7/24/2023 0 Comments Educating rita chichester![]() The issues of class and education that form the centre of Educating Rita did feel somewhat dated, in a way in which Shirley’s more human concerns did not. Sunday TimesEducating Rita premiered at the RSC Warehouse, London, in June 1980. Chichester, in 2015 ‘uncovers a potential star in Lashana Lynch’. Having seen both plays in the same day meant that I was constantly drawing comparisons, perhaps where they weren’t warranted, but I did feel that Shirley Valentine has stood the test of time much better. Educating Rita, about a working-class Liverpool girls hunger for education, is simply a marvellous play, painfully funny and passionately serious a hilarious social documentary a fairy-tale with a quizzical, half-happy ending. Educating Rita at 40 in pictures Tim Pigott-Smith (Frank) and Laura Dos Santos (Rita) in Educating Rita. In the attractively designed office set, their relationship is charted but something just didn’t click for me. I didn’t care much for Larry Lamb’s grizzled Frank (as I’m not a watcher of Eastenders or Gavin & Stacey, I wasn’t aware of him before now) although Laura Dos Santos’ Rita was very funny and warm. Over the course of a year, they affect each other in a number of ways, as Rita seeks to better herself and Frank tries to battle his own personal demons. Rita, a 29 year-old hairdresser decides she needs an education and enrols at an Open University course where her tutor, Frank, is a disillusioned middle-aged ex-poet with an indiscriminate liking for whiskey. Laura Dos Santos reprises her role from the radio, but Bill Nighy has been replaced by Larry Lamb. This version has more in common with the radio play which was broadcast on Radio 4 on Boxing Day than the famous film. And whilst she loved it, I was not a fan. After Shirley in the afternoon with a varied sampling of the blogging cognoscenti, I returned in the evening with a different companion for Educating Rita. I think I got Willy Russelled out on Saturday. But it's worth seeing for Lynch's performance alone she's a Rita for our times. My original review was a lot more detailed but disappeared somewhere into the internet and I’m meant to be working, so here’s a brief recap. Maybe this will improve through the run – it certainly seemed as if Henry was holding himself back and will grow into the role. He's certainly not helped by Buffong's plodding direction it meanders to its conclusion despite Ellen Cairn's imaginative design and Lynch's bewildering range of costume changes – there are too many of these, and the gap between the scenes contribute to the lethargic pace. While he's stronger by the end, it's a low-key performance and not just in comparison with Lynch's. We certainly can sense his disgust with the university system and his superficial students, but Henry doesn't capture the full self-pity of Frank. He recovered his composure but Henry's performance never really catches fire. In a co-production with Chichester Festival Theatre Sharp-witted, wilful and frequently. Maybe it was first night nerves – at one stage he got so tongue-tied over the differences between subjectivity and objectivity that he had to leave the stage for a few minutes. He has directed productions of Educating Rita and Gaslight. of Music (Stratford Festival, Canada) Hamlet (Elisnore, Denmark) Oleanna, Educating Rita, Pravda, The Critic, The Real Inspector Hound (Chichester). Lenny Henry's performance as the jaded Frank, however, is less assured. From her first appearance, almost literally bursting through the door, hers is a performance of some verve – her scouse accent is a bit wobbly at first but she finds her feet as quickly as Rita finds herself lost in the wonders of English literature. That's certainly not down to Lashana Lynch's Rita: there's an exuberance and vitality about her performance that ensures Frank is not the only person captivated. Director Michael Buffong's new production features an all-black cast, which is a worthwhile idea, though the execution leaves something to be desired. In an era where more women go to college than men and where girls do better than boys at school, it may be instructive to swap the roles around. It's interesting to wonder how Willy Russell would write Educating Rita today.
